Volunteering can help you land your next job

“I never think of the future.
It comes soon enough."

Albert Einstein

Big question, "When will I be employed?” Does this thought constantly pop into your mind during the day, night or when you are sleeping? You are not alone, everyone has this thought while on the unemployed journey.

Part of finding happiness during this period is to accept what’s happening as a fact of life. I know this is a tall order and some times very difficult to accomplish.

Relax, there is hope!

One of the ways to relax during this period is to focus on a task that will take your mind off your circumstances.

One of the things you can do is volunteer your time and services. It is also a way of networking and helping you find your next job.

Volunteerism is part of the trend today in food banks, hospitals, non-profit organizations, etc.

One of the ways to research different opportunities is to read about President Obama’s United We Serve initiative, which encourages Americans to visit www.serve.gov and serve their country with local action that benefits the community.

Reasons for volunteering:
• Makes you feel needed and builds self-esteem.
• Learning new skills.
• Gives you something else to focus on instead of your unemployed thoughts.
• Meet new people and breaks down barriers of misunderstanding, mistrust and fear.
• Creates new contacts which may help your business or career.

Volunteering options:
• Community
• Hospitals
• Food Banks
• Animal Shelters
• Schools
• Non-Profit Organizations
• etc.

Now it is Your Turn!

Take a few minutes today and research one volunteer option that sounds interesting. Let the Love Yourself – It Matters Community know about the information you found. If at least three people share their information we will have three different options to consider.

Have fun and enjoy this new option!

I look forward to hearing from you.
