Happiness While Being Unemployed

“I think these difficult times have helped me
to understand better than before
how infinitely rich and beautiful life is
in every way, and that so many things
one goes around worrying about
are of no importance whatsoever.”

Isak Dinesen (Danish writer)

If you are an unemployed worker who has been laid-off, why would you think this is a beautiful time? I would like to reassure you, circumstances happen and we can still find happiness during our journey.

Helen what are you taking about…Find happiness Now? Everyday I wake up with the same realization, I don’t have a job and need one right away. There is no time for happiness in my life right now. When I get a job, I will be happy again.

Let’s take a step back and think about your twenty four (24) hours in a day. For argument sake, you spend about twenty (20) hours a day sleeping, eating, exercising, job searching and other responsibilities. There are approximately four (4) hours left for you to focus on other opportunities. Isn’t this a good time to bring a little happiness into your life.

What is happiness? “Resulting unexpectedly in something pleasant or welcome. A happy coincidence.”

Let’s explore different ideas that would make you happy.
• Your daughter running into the house yelling, “Mom, Tracy, my best friend, and I will be in the same classroom next year. Seeing joy in your daughter's face brings you happiness.
• You are the 25th person to buy a cup of coffee that day and receive a free cup.You suddenly think, "This is nice, I am so lucky."
• After exercising sitting down with a cold bottle of water. While sweating nothing tastes better than cold water.

The list can go on and on. Bringing joy into your day can change your prospective. It has been proven over and over again that positive thinking makes life easier and creates miracles at the same time.

So give it a try, put a smile on your face and yell, “ I am one step closer to finding that new job.” What do you have to lose? NOTHING!

Now it is your turn!

Share with the Love Yourself – It Matters Community what makes you happy. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Helen

Happiness is a state of being, not something that happens to you. You are correct that when we choose to be happy are perspective changes and so does the energy which we give off. Good vibrations will help us in a job interview and will open doors for us. We must turn inward and understand that we have a choice to be happy and that we are who we are and not because of what we do or don't do for a living.
