Hi Helen,
You asked us to share our thoughts after watching this video, so here are some of my thoughts. Paul said that singing opera professionally has been a long time dream for him, yet we all know that he was virtually unheard of until this competition. It is apparent, however, that he has been training, practicing…..yes, singing. I don’t know if you viewed the “second round” but he said that he has always been a bit different which caused him to struggle with his confidence. He then said, though, that when he sings he feels significant. He knows this is what he was born to do….his way of expressing himself in the world, and the world has responded to his passion. His singing is beautiful and the people loved it – but it was his story that grabbed their hearts…..a man with a dream….an ordinary man with an extraordinary gift and I believe every person watching longs to dream a dream and see it come to fruition. They are inspired because if it can happen to a mobile phone salesman named Paul Potts, maybe, just maybe it can happen to them too. Many are asking themselves right now…do I dare to dream?
